This is the Primera Iglesia Bautista Church on Mayfield Road in Arlington. The original church has been there for as long as I can remember, which is longer than many of the people I know have been alive. As you can see it's a nice enough, simple little church. But like many churches they decided they needed more space so they built a new building.

The new building is of a completely different style from the old. Not really ugly in and of itself (though far from attractive), it just makes a terrible juxtaposition from the old church.

It's hard to get a good picture of them together as they're so wide, but you can see how completely different they are stylistically.

Stupid Blogger

I apologize for any formatting irregularities. Not that I know who I'm apologizing to since I'm the only one who see this, but there you go. I format it on IE here at work and it looks right, but I noticed on Firefox at home the text is offset from the appropriate pictures. It's a pain in the ass getting it set up properly, too. Preview gives you an idea, but you never know for certain until you publish it since the preview isn't formatted exactly the same as the final post. Which makes preview rather meaningless, don't ya think?

I can't believe this is the best I have access to.

More pictures as soon as I can take some. I have a fair number of churches near to me that need blogging.

Ok, in an attempt to blog the ugliest churches around I'm presenting here, for the first time, my first (though not ugliest) ugly church. I'll probably revamp the site a bit to reflect the change. I'm also unsure how I'll store the pics, probably on Photobucket or something so you can view bigger images of them. If I can figure it all out.

First up, the First Baptist Church of Euless. This is a corner of the building, though it's oddly shaped, so corner is somewhat misleading. Not bad. Simple and understated.
Here's the 'front' view - the side out to the public that defines the church. It looks so unfinished. Like there's supposed to be something covering the bare concrete that they forgot to add. Stucco, maybe. It's hard to tell in this smaller image, but those dark lines in center of each panel are part of the design, but they look like water stains from the highway. So very blah.
Their entrance looks like the entrance to a school. Where's the sense of awe, of glory?

They do have a fountain, however.
